Armis Named in the 2021 Gartner Market Guide for Operational Technology Security

Palo Alto, CA – March 8, 2021

Armis®, the leading agentless device security platform, today announced it has been named a Representative Vendor in the 2021 Gartner Market Guide for Operational Technology Security. Gartner defines operational technology (OT) as, “Hardware and software that detects or causes a change through the direct monitoring and/or control of physical devices, processes and events in asset-centric enterprises, particularly in production and operations.” OT security is defined as, “The practices and technologies used to protect people, assets and information involved in the monitoring and/or control of physical devices, processes and events, particularly in production and operations.”

As identified in the OT/CPS security journey, phase three of six key phases is classified as “The ’Oh wow!’ Moment,” which includes finding out through the POC that unmanaged assets are connected everywhere, OT networks that were initially designed to be highly segregated have become flatter than realized, ports on all kinds of systems in all kinds of remote locations are wide open, OEMs are accessing the machines they sold remotely and no one is managing it and disclosed vulnerabilities on old OSs have never been evaluated for possible patching

“The need for OT security is changing as these environments are rapidly being connected to enterprise networks and exposed to threats coming from the Internet, said Chris Dobrec, VP Product Marketing at Armis. “While these connections make it easy to gather data and remotely manage the OT environment, they also create entry points for attackers. Armis is purpose built to help customers identify vulnerable OT and IIoT devices and reduce and eliminate device downtime. We are pleased to be recognized by Gartner as a vendor addressing this critical need.”
