Vulnerability Assessment Tools Leave Critical Gaps

Organizations need to target those vulnerabilities that are most likely to be exploited and negatively impact the business.

Expanding Attack Surface

Today’s organizations are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of vulnerable assets in their environment at any given moment. With every new asset deployed in support of growth, innovation, and efficiency efforts, the enterprise attack surface expands.

Number of Vulnerabilities

There were more than 26,000 vulnerabilities disclosed in 2023. The volume of accumulated vulnerabilities that organizations need to deal with today is measured in the millions.

CVSS Won’t Cut It

Vulnerability scanner output data that only considers the CVSS score (Common Vulnerability Scoring System) leads to teams wasting their valuable time on vulnerabilities that pose little to no risk.

Vulnerability Detection – Fill in the Coverage Gaps

Manually aggregating vulnerabilities from many different sources is a difficult task, and this is handled automatically by Armis Centrix™ for every asset in the environment.  Armis Centrix™ for Vulnerability Prioritization and Remediation also fills in gaps on scanner-identified assets and provides important details for each including about the asset owner, its location, and more. This ensures that you are fully aware of your organization’s entire attack surface so that you can understand each asset and its associated risk to the organization.

Asset Context and Recommendation Enrichment

Unlike raw scanner output data that only considers the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) score, Armis Centrix™ also takes into account its presence in CISA known-exploited vulnerabilities, ransomware association and assesses devices against the Armis AI-driven Asset Intelligence Engine. This unique crowdsourced knowledge base tracks profiles for over 3 billion assets around the world. It is continuously updated with the latest information about vulnerabilities and exploits, ensuring you are always up to date. The end result is full context for every asset, including recommended steps for remediation.

Business Critical Risk-Based Prioritization

Armis Centrix™ continuously monitors and maps out the connections and communications between various assets and services in your environment. This allows Armis Centrix™ to understand the relationships and dependencies on assets in your environment. An Internet facing asset with many connections and dependencies that runs essential business operations or services is more critical to your business, and therefore should be prioritized over a non- Internet facing asset with no critical dependencies, even if the vulnerabilities of the asset are more severe. Armis Centrix™ then calculates a risk score for each asset based on its criticality to the business, the severity of its vulnerabilities, and the exploitability of these vulnerabilities.

Prioritization of mitigation efforts by business criticality helps security and IT operations teams focus their efforts on the most pressing vulnerabilities that matter most. When your teams know exactly which critical assets are affected, by which vulnerabilities, they can act quickly and precisely to remediate the issues that pose the biggest threat to your business.

Vulnerability Remediation

Integration with security automation and orchestration solutions enables automated responses to detected vulnerabilities. The response can be as simple as opening a ticket in JIRA for example and alerting the responsible team, quarantining the vulnerable device until it is remediated and verified, or and even full automated remediation or patching of the vulnerable asset.

Track Progress and Process Management

Entities of all kinds need a reliable, repeatable, and transparent way to manage and report on their progress. Often, they can’t measure their effectiveness, can’t identify bottlenecks, and are unable to respond in a scalable way to newly identified risks.

Armis Centrix™ Vulnerability Prioritization and Remediation offers full vulnerability lifecycle management features to continuously improve the security of your environment. Ongoing monitoring, dashboards, and reports help you track vulnerability mitigation efforts over time and demonstrate improvement in the organization’s security posture.
