Medical Device Identification & Classification

Armis brings the deepest insight of all devices in your environment. We can identify information like device type, manufacturer, model, FDA classification, MDS2 details, and more. Armis also integrates with your IT asset management platform or CMMS/CMDB, ensuring they are kept up-to-date with the latest and most complete information available.

  • Device name
  • Device category
  • Device type
  • Device model
  • Device brand
  • FDA classification
  • MDS2 details
  • IP address
  • MAC address
  • Location
  • User
  • Operating system and version
  • Applications including name, version, date/time seen active
  • Date and time first seen
  • Date and time last seen
  • OUI
  • Reputation
  • Behavior
We also track:

Connections between the device and other devices including the protocol used to connect, time of the connection, duration of the connection, amount of data transferred, physical layer information such as Wi-Fi channel used.

Alerts including important information such as date, time, type, activities that caused the alert, severity of the alert.

Services accessed by the device including related information such as the date and time, name of the service, amount of traffic, and transmission characteristics such as latency.

Traffic to and from the device including port, description.

Risks including details regarding each type of risk which include manufacturer reputation, cloud synchronization, connection security, data-at-rest security, malicious domains visited, number of wireless protocols used, malicious behavior, number of open ports, user authentication, threat detected, and vulnerability history.

Software vulnerabilities found on the device including related information such as CVE (with drill-down into details), description, publish date, attack vector, attack complexity, and whether user interaction is required.

We track all this information “out of the box” for 90 days, with searchable history.

Locate Medical Assets Quickly

For large hospitals, or healthcare providers with multiple medical centers, knowing what devices you have and where they are can be challenging.

Armis tracks the location of equipment as it moves throughout your facility. This provides important visibility into where clinical staff may have moved mobile equipment like crash carts, dialysis machines, and infusion pumps. It can also help you determine how many of a particular type of device you have available, where they are located, and whether or not equipment is off-site or at another facility within your network.

Maximize Device Utilization

Device usage is essential to the bottom line of any healthcare organization. So not only do you need to know where these devices are, you also need to know how much they are being used, or if they are sitting idle.

Armis sees traffic from these devices and can associate that traffic with the usage of each device for reporting, helping you get the best return on investment for your medical assets.

Driving Network Segmentation

With complete visibility of all devices on the network, as well as full context about their behavior & security posture, Armis can apply automated enforcement of network segmentation based on policy. We enforce network segmentation and security by automating blocking or quarantining actions through integrations with existing infrastructure components. Based on device attributes, and policy thresholds that you set, Armis is able to automatically segment, block or quarantine devices via your existing wired or wireless infrastructure, NAC, switches, WLC or firewall.

Largest Device Knowledgebase

The Armis platform's deep device insights don’t just come from the devices themselves, but from understanding the context and behavior associated with each device. We understand how a device is being used, and whether it is acting suspiciously or as if it has been compromised.

We are able to gain those deeper device insights with our Device Knowledgebase. It is the largest such Device Knowledgebase, tracking more than 280 million devices (and growing) every day. There we compare a medical device to all similar medical devices, correlating that device and its behavior against known-good profiles of devices to identify if there is any risk or active threat.
